Funded Research <\/h3>\n \n\n \n\t \t

Funded research projects typically address specific needs issues or areas. They\u00a0are led by a professor with expertise in the project\u2019s subject area who assembles\u00a0a team of graduate research assistants and, depending on the project, faculty\u00a0from the college and\/or university, professional advisors, and visiting experts.\u00a0The timetable for Funded Research projects is flexible and not limited to the\u00a0academic calendar.<\/p>\n\t \t \n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n\n

Funded Studios<\/h3>\n \n\n \n\t \t

Funded studios are best for problems and issues where a range of ideas and\u00a0approaches are needed. These types of projects are conducted in advanced\u00a0graduate or undergraduate design studios led by a professor with expertise in\u00a0the project type. The design team can also include graduate research assistants,\u00a0faculty from the college and\/or university, professional advisors, and visiting\u00a0experts. The timetable for Funded Studios needs to align with the semester\u00a0structure of the academic calendar.<\/p>\n\t \t \n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

    The Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities Initiative typically works in communities of need and organizations that cannot afford professional services. We do not replace professional services, but provide research that is typically not part of traditional services and preliminary \u201cseed design,\u201d so that our partners can effectively advocate, educate and fundraise to achieve their long-term goals.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    How We Work:<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

    Depending on the project and funding type, the project processes may include the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • Neighborhood walkthroughs, windshield surveys, inventories, and assessment<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Surveys of stakeholders<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Community-based design workshops.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Public forums and\/or presentations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
